2021 Rippa Dorii Roble, Ribera del Duero

Seriously good value Ribera del Duero (a sentence that I thought was an oxymoron) from this exciting winery.

Made from 15 year old Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) vines which go through a first selection in the vineyard. After a cool fermentation the wine then matures for 7 months in new oak – 40% American, and 60% French with varying levels of toast.

A very inviting nose of dark cherry, plum and touches of spice. On the palate it is medium to full bodied and the tannins are well integrated. The oak is well controlled and not overpowering. Excellent stuff for the money.
