It’s that time of year when you notice the trees are full of leaves, it’s Asparagus for supper again and the new release of one of the most wonderfully crisp sherries arrives in the UK.

Tio Pepe En Rama is shipped straight after bottling and goes through no fining or filtration. Tasting this emulates the experience of tasting a Fino sherry straight from the cask with its super-fresh, super-charged flavour that’s bursting with youthful energy.

This year the blend is from 96 small casks, especially selected to represent the excellence and uniqueness of the region, with each one having its own individual ecosystem.  

Every year this wine offers something different, not only in terms of flavour but also appearance, as each release has its own unique label that’s based on a design from the Tio Pepe archive.  

Here are the tasting notes of Antonio Flores, master blender at Tio Pepe –

“Pale yellow with golden glints. Slightly cloudy as it contains flor in suspension, reflecting it’s having been bottled ‘En Rama’. Complex aromas of almonds, lemon and floral notes combined with sea spray and minerals. The palate is concentrated and sightly creamy with a salty tang and impressive depth of flavour boasting toasted almonds, apple skins and bready undertones. The finish is rounded and alluring, clearly harking back to its origins in the albariza soil yet also reflecting the Significance of its biological ageing. This wine is the purest definition of the vines and the winery.”
