NV Organic Cava Brut Vilarnau, DO Cava Magnum

Multi award winning Organic Cava that is a great example of the quality sparkling wine being produced in this region.

A blend of 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada & 15% Chardonnay. The vineyard was planted in 1991 in Espiells, the highest, windiest area of the municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.  The soil is alluvial and comprises three layers:  clay and silt, pebbles and fine sand that compacts down and is called “sauló”. The Parellada vineyard is located at 700 metres above sea level in the municipality of La Llacuna, considered to be one of the highest in Penedés, with the altitude producing grapes with very high levels of acidity and very elegant floral aromas. It is aged for over 15 months in bottle.

A Cava of superb balance and complexity with fruity and floral notes. Then the hints of bread from secondary fermentation and lastly are the aromas of toast, nuts and honey and come with ageing.

A great match for shellfish but also wonderful on its own as an aperitif in the sun.
