Totally stunning Chardonnay from Rheinhessen region in Germany and possibly the best Chardonnay you’ll taste under £30.
Florian Fauth produces terroir focused, thunder charged wines from the very same land that was making £3.99 Liebfraumilch. The big name in winemaking around here is Klaus Peter Keller who although makes brilliant wines, they ain’t cheap at around £500 a bottle. Well, Florian just so happens to be KP’s brother-in-law, and must be in on the family secret as he makes mineral laden, beguiling wines from his sustainably managed 17ha of plots around the town of Westhofen.
This ‘to die for’ Chardonnay is fermented and aged for 7 months in Stockinger barrique – widely considered the crème de la crème of barrels.
The result in a textured and layered Chardonnay that promises so much on the nose and totally delivers on the palate. Ripe stone fruit, touch of nuttiness and bright citrusy acidity. Brilliant stuff.
Only around 100 bottles shipped to the UK so don’t faff around. Stock is currently limited to 2 bottles per order.
