2022 Montecalvo Falanghina, Campania

Cracking new Italian white made from the very underrated Falanghina grape.

This is produced a bit further north from Benevento so the soils are less volcanic and more limestone. The vineyards sit at about 500m just outside the town of Guardia Sanframone. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and there’s no lees ageing, however the wine is wonderfully complex considering its modest price tag.

Aromas of citrus, pineapple and apricot and lovely and fresh on the palate with excellent texture. This is a fun and fruity wine that punches way above its weight and is perfect with seafood pasta.
