Grapes were sourced from vineyards in the coastal area of the western tip of Sicily – in Petrosino, Trapani and Marzara del Vallo areas.
Vines are cultivated in chalky soils with sandy patches, and are of average age 20–25 years. Harvesting takes place late August / early September. After temperature-controlled fermentation for 30 days, the wine is filtered and bottled.
A delicious and characterful dry white, from a very under-rated grape variety Grillo. Apparently, this very grape variety was used to make Julius Caesar’s favourite wine. A ripe and spicy nose with floral and stone fruit characters. The palate has more honeyed stone fruit and savoury notes backed by fresh citrus acidity. An ideal quaffer when watching Gladiator.
