2019 Rippa Dorii Crianza, Ribera del Duero, Spain

This delicious Crianza from the exciting Ribera del Duero producer, Rippa Dori, is a real bargain at this price.

It is made from 100% Tinta del Pais (Tempranillo) which is sourced from a number of different plots that sit at an altitude of 900m. Grapes are hand picked and selected first in the vineyard and then again in the winery so only the very best quality are used. The grapes go through cool maceration prior to fermentation that occurs in stainless steel. The wine is matured for 12 months in 70% French/30% American oak casks of different ages and then sees further ageing in bottle before being released.

On the nose this has delicious aromas of brambly fruit with a touch of vanilla and nutmeg. There’s plenty of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry on the palate that is nice complemented, but never overpowered by, some spicy oak. Superb length too.
