Sherry is cool! It’s official – why? Because I said so. Are there many cooler places to eat than José Pizzaro’s ‘José’ sherry bar in Bermondsey? No – so there you go.
Manzanilla Alegria is made of 100% Palomino and is produced using the first gravity pressing of the grapes. It is then transported to the seaside town of Sanlucar de Barrameda for ageing. It is biologically aged under Flor, a naturally occurring layer of yeast for over 5 years in the micro climate of Sanlucar. (The same as with Fino).
Williams & Humbert have been crafting award-winning Sherry since 1877 and are today internationally recognised for the quality of their portfolio. The winery is located in the sherry triangle, a region with a unique microclimate.
Pale straw in colour, with bright golden undertones. Pungent yeasty aroma with salty notes. Very dry and light on the palate with a salty tang.
Sunday lunch, roast shoulder of pork and a glass of this with a cheeky piece of salty crackling – heaven!
