One of the most elegant and complex Pinot Noirs you’ll taste at this price point.

Established in 1998, Emiliana is one of Chile’s pioneers in organic and biodynamic winemaking. In 2016 they were voted winery of the year by Wines of Chile and they own vineyards in prime sites including Casablanca, Maipo, Cachapoal and Bio-Bio. It is on the red clay soils of Bio-Bio where they plant most of their Pinot Noir vineyards. Here there is a moderate humid Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool nights.

At the winery the grapes are pressed at a low temperature to extract colour and complex aromas. After fermentation (also at a low temperature) 10% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 6 months to give extra complexity and the remainder remains in tank.

An elegant but pronounced nose of fresh strawberry and red cherry start proceedings nicely. A swirl or two of the glass produce touches of sweet spice too. Take a sip and you’re immediately enchanted by the fruity finesse and soft minerality. Elegance may be the name of the game here but there’s certainly a bit of body too as the wine puts on weight in the glass. There’s more ripe cherry on the finish and this lasts far longer than you dare to expect from a wine at this level.
