A truly wonderful Vacqueyras produced from vines dating back to 1945! This is a wine that has power, structure, elegance and complexity.

This Domaine was founded in 1987 when Martine and Christian Vache combined their family vineyards. They were joined by their son Damien in 2007 which was the same year they converted to organic production. They are one of the only 45 producers out of 122 to Domaine bottle in the Vacqueyras Appellation.

70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Carignan. The Grenache is sourced from vineyards planted in 1945 and 1965. Fermented with indigenous yeasts with maceration of 22 days in total and then matured 18 months in old 600L oak barrels.

Youthful nose with vibrant raspberry and red cherry. Layers of fruit on the palate with great texture and intensity. The finish lasts for almost a minute. Over the space of a few hours the wine evolved beautifully.

This wine will certainly benefit from another year or two cellaring (at time of writing – March 2021) however if you feel decadent, crack open a bottle sooner but give it at least two hours in a decanter for it to start to sing. A great wine.
