Lovely Red Burgundy from one of the Côte de Nuits’ best value villages.

The village of Fixin sits just north of Gevrey-Chambertin and a number of the top growers of the latter also own vineyards in the former. Here you can find some seriously good wine for not quite so eye watering prices and Tardy’s Lieu Dit (single vineyard) La Place is exactly that.

It’s forward and generous with a lovely black cherry and red fruit aromas. It has wonderful vibrancy on the palate and feels very alive. It’s drinking beautifully right now and shows no signs of that changing in the next few years – it may even improve.
