Behold this gorgeously mature Barbaresco from one of the region’s finest producers.

The Produttori del Barbaresco has a long and distinguished history. Originally founded in 1894 consisting of nine vineyard owners and one castle (everyone had one in those days), it was the first winery to label its wines as Barbaresco. It’s modern day history began in 1958 when a local priest recognized that the only way smaller vine growers could survive was to combine their efforts and the Produttori of today begun.

Today Produttori del Barbaresco produces some of the region’s finest wines. Their single Crus are hugely sought after but their regular Barbaresco is probably best value wine in the region. It is unanimously highly rated by all the renowned international wine critics and can age for up to 20 years – and that’s why we are delighted to have picked up this stunning 2008.

This vintage was already drinking beautifully on release but almost 15 years on it is a joy to behold. Soft and elegant with mature dark cherry fruit plus hints of star anise, rose petal and fruit cake, this is what mature Nebbiolo is all about. Pure class!!
