Songbird Wines is an independent Wine Merchant that offers a host of exciting wines from artisan producers. We offer free local wine delivery in the Canterbury area and offer UK wide wine delivery too. We are also a supplier of wine to restaurants and bars in Kent and South East London
The focus is on quality wine created by boutique growers from Italy, Spain and France. We do not structure our pricing in order to offer unrealistic ‘discounts’ but instead offer a strong, competitive price all year round.
We also offer the opportunity to hold wine tasting events at your home and are the only wine merchant in Kent to do so.
The company was started in 2014 by Jonny Wren, who wanted to bring wine from his favourite wine regions to the people of Kent. Songbird Wines is now one of the leading wine merchants in the south east offering exciting and unique wines to restaurants, bars and private clients. Jonny holds popular wine dinners at local restaurants and is a regular guest on Radio Kent’s Saturday mid morning show.
About The Wines
Bang for your buck is the name of our game and we source our wines by tasting hundreds a year. Every wine in the Songbird Wine portfolio needs to offer exceptional value and punch well above its weight. Wines are judged by their quality only and not because they have a recognisable name. We are proud to have introduced lesser known regions like Priorat, Campania, Ribera del Douro to wine lovers in Kent, either directly or on one of the exciting wine lists we have produced for local restaurants.
As mentioned above, we offer wines at the best possible price all year round. We do not hike the cost up only to then heavily discount it to make it look like an unbelievable bargain. However, when producers offer us a better price for their wines then this discount is passed on to our customers in a form of a wine offer. To receive updates of these offers then please contact us.
Songbird Wines are UK Agents for the Rioja winery Bodegas Casa Primicia and Tuscany’s Tenute Toscane. We also have local exclusivity on a number of award winning wines. Producers like Rafael Palacios, Àlvaro Palacios, Bierzo’s Bodegas Madai, Hunter’s Vineyards in Marlborough, Domaine du Monteillet/Stephane Montez and Bodegas Juan Gil grace our list with their superb wines. We also work closely with renowned Kentish winery Westwell who are based in the North Downs.
Wine tastes are changing and Songbird Wines are embracing new styles and consumer demands. A large proportion of our wines are vegan, a growing number are certified Organic or Bio-dynamic and also have natural wines (produced with no sulphur) in our portfolio.
Finally a note on sustainability. Songbird Wines considers itself one of Kent’s most sustainable wine merchants. We use boxes made of recycled cardboard and reuse packaging as much as possible. Our portfolio is predominantly European as the wine has less distance to travel. We don’t print glossy brochures and market all our promotions electronically. We’re not perfect, but our thoughts are always on what we small changes can we make to help the environment.
