2017 ‘Campo Della Paura’ Morellino di Scansano Riserva, Querciarossa, Tuscany

Original price was: £16.50.Current price is: £11.95. inc. VAT

Rich and smooth with silky tannins, close your eyes and you could be drinking Brunello at twice the price! Final few bottles of the 2017 remain until new vintage arrives in 2024.

Fattoria Querciarossa sits on a the site of an ancient Etruscan vineyard. The soils here are clay-sand-calcareous and are rich in limestone. The Morellino di Scansano region is located around 30 miles south of Montalcino and there is more of a hint of the ‘Brunello’ style in the wines produced here. The label is based on the ancient red paintings discovered in a bronze age necropolis found next to the vineyard.

Campo Della Paura is a blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot. All the grapes are hand harvested and are fermented with the skins under controlled temperature for 5-6 days. It is then aged in French oak for 18-20 months.

A pronounced spicy nose of black cherry, raisin, fennel and a hint of pepper. Lusciously rich on the palate with similar flavours but with notes of balsamic on the finish. The tannins are soft and silky and this is bang on for drinking now.

Perfect paired with gamey meat or strong Italian cheeses.
