2021 Dye Bleeding Skin Contact Grenache Gris, Wildeburg, Paarl

Original price was: £16.50.Current price is: £13.75. inc. VAT

A slightly wacky but lovely tasting skin contact white – 640 bottles only for the UK!

This may look like rosé but it’s actually a skin contact white so theoretically an ‘Orange Wine’. No matter what you want to call the colour, it looks fantastic and it tastes delicious. Dye Bleeding is a one-off project by Wildeburg winemaker Jan du Plessis Rossouw (JD to most) using Grenache Gris and a Clayver ceramic egg. The latter is a newish invention that allows a more steady fermentation along with natural circulation and a level of purity for the fermenting wine. It’s a vessel that works perfectly for skin contact whites.

This skin contact Grenache Gris has lovely texture and delicious flavours of nectarine and mandarin. There’s plenty going on and it’s a wine to slowly sip on a warm summer’s evening with some quality food.
