2014 Château Angludet, Cru Bourgeois, Margaux, Bordeaux

£30.75 inc. VAT

Here’s a case of when a wine that usually over-delivers excels in an unfashionable vintage.

And when this happens to be the superb Château Angludet then its worth taking notice. This lovely Château is owned by the Sichel family who also have a share of Margaux’s esteemed Château Palmer. Although classified a Cru Bourgeois, Château Angludet regularly produces wine of Grand Cru Classé quality and is on the shopping list of most savvy wine claret lovers.

Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (56%) with 33% Merlot and 11% Petit Verdot. It is aged in French barrique and bottled without filtration.

This is just beginning to shake off its youth and developing in to a very splendid drop of claret. Subtle ripe fruit with touches of spice and earthy minerality. Excellent texture on the palate with all flavours nicely harmonised and tannins soft. Bit of a bargain really.
