2017 ‘Barbaspinosa’ Montereggio di Massa Marittima, Morisfarms, Tuscany

£22.00 inc. VAT

This wine was born in 1996 with the appellation Monteregio di Massa Marittima. It began as a red wine made with just Sangiovese grapes , but in the year 2000 the process of refining it for a year in oak barrels used for Avvoltore (the estate’s flagship wine) before releasing it.
In the year 2012 it was renamed “Barpaspinosa”, from a character of short story written by the great-grandfather Giuseppe Leo Moris for his children. Since the vintage 2015 it gets the appellation Maremma Toscana DOC.

The clay soil gives us a wine with body and character that goes well with first and second courses. Its main characteristic aroma is that of black fruit with hints of dried herbs and spice. This is a wine that will delight Bordeaux and Chianti lovers alike.

Serve with a rare rib-eye steak and save a glass for some cheese
