2015 Anjou Villages ‘Clos de Midion’, Domaine de Petit Métris, Loire

£15.25 inc. VAT

Stunning Loire Cabernet Franc from a sustainable wine maker. Cabernet Franc from a small clos (walled vineyard) of barely one hectare, with schist sub-soil and clay over the top. 50% of the wine is aged in 4 year old barrels and 50% en cuve, and only 1,700 bottles are produced each vintage.

Deeply coloured with a purple rim and inky dark core, loads of crunchy red fruit with a typical Cabernet Franc ‘crackle’ then a faintly minty or liquorice layer on top of the succulent, leafy, red fruit.

Crack a bottle open when ham hock with lentils, cold meats or charcuterie are on the menu.
