Best Red Wine Under £10? Yes…Very Likely!

2021 Prisma Organic Monastrell, Paco Mulero, Jumilla, Spain

This downright delicious red is destined for the ‘Wines For Summer’ offer that’s launching this weekend, however it thoroughly deserves to be highlighted on its own – as I don’t think you’ll find a more drinkable wine than this for sub £10 a bottle.

Prisma is made from organic Monastrell grapes grown on the slopes of Jumilla in south east Spain and then put in the hands of the region’s finest producers – Paco Mulero is a pseudonym of Juan Gil, a producer that’s a legend of the area. After a cool fermentation and 6 months in stainless steel the wine is then bottled for further ageing before release.

What a beautifully opulent wine – there’s nothing not to like here at all. Ripe and juicy black fruit, a good level of savouriness too, but then there’s a touch of silky elegance that totally betrays the price tag. But my goodness, the drinkability of this wine is not to be underestimated  – it’s pretty much perfect!

The wine is no longer available at the offer price but is still excellent value at £12 per bottle and you can order this delicious wine here.

If you’d like to hear how excited I was when I first tasted this then you can view my brief YouTube clip below.

2021 Quatro Ventos – Portugal’s Top Value Red

Few Countries offer better value around the £10 a bottle mark than Portugal and, in my opinion, one of the very best at this price point is Quatro Ventos from the Douro valley. I remember this wine blowing me away at a Wines of Portugal tasting back in 2019 and then one week later my […]
